What is Daxxify?
Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm) belongs to a family of injectables known as neuromodulators. It temporarily blocks certain nerve signals from interacting with the treated muscle. This effect has numerous benefits. These injectables can smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles. They can be used to open up the eyes, lift the eyebrows, and sharpen the jawline. They also reduce the size of overactive jaw muscles, which can become enlarged from behaviors such as teeth grinding and clenching, to slim and define your lower face. Neuromodulators have even been used to successfully prevent excessive sweating.
As an added benefit, side effects appear minimal for this innovative new injectable. Researchers didn’t observe any serious treatment-related side effects during clinical trials for Daxxify. The most common side effects were temporary headaches, drooping eyelids, and facial asymmetry.
How is Daxxify Different from BOTOX Cosmetic?
Daxxify (a.k.a Daxi) is a peptide-powered injectable wrinkle treatment. Unlike BOTOX Cosmetic, it doesn’t use human or animal products as part of the composition. Interestingly, it may also keep wrinkles at bay for longer. Clinical trials showed better longevity than other neuromodulators on the market. So, in theory, you could schedule two treatments a year instead of three or four, depending on your unique goals and your individual response to the injectable.
When Will Daxxify Be Available?
In September 2022, the FDA approved Daxxify for the treatment of wrinkles in adults. It’s expected to become available in 2023. Dr. Shaun Patel will offer Daxxify in the Miami area as soon as possible. He believes it will be a very promising treatment option for some patients. Until then, tried and true options such as BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport remain a great way to address your concerns.
