What Is Juvéderm?
Juvéderm is an injectable gel that can add volume to the skin and smooth away cosmetic concerns. This incredible filler is soft, smooth, and crystal clear. Technically, there are several types of Juvéderm fillers; however, they are often collectively referred to by the one name.
The star ingredient in Juvéderm is hyaluronic acid (HA). Who is an Ideal Candidate for Juvéderm?
Since Juvéderm is made of a substance that is already present in the body, most people are suitable candidates for this treatment. If you are concerned with visible signs of facial aging, you may be a great candidate for Juvéderm. What is Juvéderm Ultra / Ultra Plus?
Juvéderm Ultra and Juvéderm Ultra Plus can both improve signs of aging caused by skin laxity, fat loss, and bone support loss. Juvéderm Ultra is also an excellent choice for adding volume to the lips and correcting asymmetry.
Both of these fillers are used to treat facial wrinkles and enhance your features. The main difference between the two is that Ultra Plus has a slightly thicker consistency than Ultra. Therefore, Ultra Plus may provide more dramatic and potentially longer-lasting results. On the other hand, Juvéderm Ultra may be more appropriate for fine wrinkles and scars, or subtle augmentation.

Juvéderm Voluma For Midface Volume

When it comes to facial aging, men and women interested in turning back the clock often need to address midface volume loss. After the age of 30, there is a consistent decrease in overall facial volume because of bone, fat, and collagen loss.
Luckily, there have been many advances in cosmetic dermatology over the last decade, including the 2013 FDA approval of Juvederm Voluma. For many of Dr. Patel’s patients, Juvéderm Voluma is the go-to treatment for midface volume loss.
What Is Juvéderm Voluma?
Voluma is manufactured and distributed by Allergan, the makers of recognizable brands such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and Kybella. Juvéderm Voluma is best used for mid-face volume loss. When expertly placed in the superficial and deep fat compartments of the face, it can make patients look youthful and refreshed.
Unlike other hyaluronic acid-based fillers, Voluma commonly lasts up to 18 to 24 months. The soft and natural looking results of Voluma combined with its longevity are what make it an ideal filler for many patients.
Voluma offers a non-surgical treatment option for the aging face and is made up of a component, HA, which is found in our bodies. HA has the unique capacity to bind 1,000 times its weight in water. When used as a filler, HA offers immediate improvement, natural-looking results, and long-lasting patient satisfaction.
Who Is a Candidate for Juvéderm Voluma?
The ideal candidates for Juvéderm Voluma require cheek pad fill, cheekbone definition, or chin area augmentation. Because Juvéderm Voluma is thicker and more robust than traditional hyaluronic acid based fillers, it can provide a greater lift to the midface when placed on the bone.
Juvéderm Volbella Lip Filler
Fuller, better-defined lips are the perfect complement to a terrific smile and glowing complexion. Unfortunately, nature didn’t give all of us a plump, well-proportioned pout. In addition, exposure to the South Florida sun depletes collagen and elastin in the skin, contributing to lines around the mouth. Lips also thin and elongate over time, and the graceful cupid’s bow of our youth tends to flatten with age.
Juvéderm Volbella is specifically designed for treating the lips and lines around the mouth (i.e. lipstick lines, smoker’s lines). It adds immediate volume and continues to hydrate lips for up to 12 months.
Dr. Shaun Patel was a part of the first group of physicians across the country to offer Volbella to his patients, through Allergan’s Juvéderm Volbella XC Experience Program in October 2016.

What To Expect From Your Juvéderm Treatment
A Juvéderm injection session typically takes less than 30 minutes, start to finish. However, your own treatment time will vary depending on the injections you receive and the areas that you decide to treat.
Dr. Patel uses a fine needle to place the product, which includes lidocaine, so there is little discomfort. Topical numbing cream is also applied before the procedure.
There is minimal downtime following treatment – most patients return to usual activities immediately after the procedure. Some patients experience minor side effects such as tenderness, swelling, or redness at injection sites, but they typically resolve quickly. Results are immediate and can last over a year, depending on the type of Juvéderm and individual factors. Most patients are so pleased with their new look that they eagerly schedule touch-up sessions.
Combining Juvéderm With Other Injectables
Patients often wonder if they can receive different injections during one visit. The answer is yes. In fact, many individuals benefit from using more than one injectable, including BOTOX® which reduces muscle contractions. Multiple injectable products can work together with Juvéderm to create optimal results.
This is a 27-year-old female. Dr. Patel injected 2 mL of Juvederm Voluma into the cheeks and chin. He also injected 1 mL of Juvederm Ultra into the lips and 40 units of BOTOX® into upper face lines. The oblique and lateral photos show cheekbone definition and chin enhancement.
