Injectables & Skin Care Doctors Serving Miami, South Miami, Coral Gables, Miami Beach & Nearby Florida
Like many of our savvy Miami patients, you’re probably already taking steps to keep your face looking youthful. You’re loyal to your at home skin care routine, you wear sunscreen, and you’ve had a non-surgical treatment or two. Are you giving your neck the same attention?
This delicate and often-neglected area is one of the first places to show signs of aging. Like your face, your neck can experience cosmetic concerns such as volume loss, lines and wrinkles, laxity, pigmentation issues, and sun damage. An aging neck can make you look older despite the effort you put into your appearance.
The good news is that most of the effective treatments that we use on the face can be used on the neck as well. During your consultation, Dr. Shaun Patel will listen to your concerns and evaluate your skin to develop an individualized plan.
Call 786-618-5039 today to schedule your neck rejuvenation consultation with Dr. Patel. At Miami Skin and Vein, we welcome patients from across Florida including Miami, Coral Gables, Miami Beach, and Fort Lauderdale.
Vertical Neck Bands
The platysma muscle runs from the upper chest to the lower face. When this muscle contracts, it creates visible bands that run vertically along the neck.
These bands are dynamic, meaning they tend to look less severe when your neck is at rest. Over time, the downward pull of the muscle can also cause an undefined jawline.
To treat these concerns, Dr. Patel often relies on BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport®. These injectables help relax the platysma muscle. Then, the muscles in your upper face can work to lift the lower face and neck.
This approach is known as the Nefertiti Neck Lift. It restores a smooth and well-contoured appearance.
Horizontal Neck Lines And Volume Loss
Often referred to as “tech neck,” horizontal lines, folds, and creases are common cosmetic concerns. These lines are becoming more prevalent in younger patients who spend a significant amount of time on their phones with their necks hunched over. These lines can also form due to age-related volume loss.
Fillers can be administered to the lines to fill them in. In many cases, a softer filler like Restylane® Refyne is an ideal choice for this area. Sculptra® Aesthetic can also be used to stimulate collagen production, restoring volume and thickening the skin.
Skin Quality
When treating the neck, it’s important to consider the overall quality of the skin in this area.
Just like in the face, your neck can have issues such as:
- Hyperpigentation
- Redness
- Textural irregularities and patchiness
- Fine lines
- Loose skin
IPL treatments are an ideal way to improve pigmentation and redness. They are a safe and effective method of color correction. When it comes to smoothing out uneven skin texture, Sublative rejuvenation is a great option.
Microneedling and light fractionated CO2 laser treatments are also helpful. These services improve skin quality and stimulate fresh, healthy collagen.
How To Maintain Your Results At Home
In-office treatments can go a long way to improve the appearance of your neck. However, you may only visit our practice several times a year. Dr. Patel can help you fine-tune your at-home skin routine to create a daily defense against neck aging.
Ideally, your skin care products should include:
- Antioxidants
- Retinol
- Moisturizers
- Peptides such as the ALASTIN Skincare® Restorative Neck Complex
- Sunscreen
