Benefits Of Dysport

Developed in the UK in the early 1990s, Dysport has grown increasingly popular because of its ability to successfully treat a variety of neurological and cosmetic conditions. Dysport is ideal for both men and women alike and suitable for younger adults in their 20s and 30s who want to take a preventative approach to anti-aging. When injected by Dr. Patel, an experienced and recognized top injector, you can expect a number of benefits, including:

  • Quick treatment time: Sessions usually last between 10 and 15 minutes.
  • No downtime: You can return to normal activities right away. Many patients undergo treatment on their lunch breaks then return immediately to work.
  • Long-lasting results: Noticeable results usually appear within two to three days and last up to four months.
  • Safety: FDA-approved and backed by 25 years of clinical use, Dysport has been proven safe for a multitude of applications.
  • Advanced techniques such as the "microDysport" technique to improve skin quality and horizontal lines on the neck, the Nefertiti lift to sharpen the jawline, and a modfied 3-5 point injection technique to raise the eyebrows.

Dysport also has a very low risk of side effects. While some patients may experience mild swelling, redness or bruising at the injection site, these conditions will quickly subside.

Combination Applications With Dysport

Dysport combines exceptionally well with other dermal fillers, which together can volumize the skin and provide stunning, natural-looking results on the face and neck. Dr. Patel takes a pan-facial approach to skincare and will provide you with a comprehensive treatment recommendation that takes your whole face into account, including the tone and texture of your skin. Ultimately, the decision is always yours and you will never feel rushed or pressured into any treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Dysport?

Formerly known as Reloxin, Dysport is the first FDA-approved alternative to BOTOX. It is made from the same form of botulinum Type A toxin and can be used to effectively treat:

Dr. Patel has been recognized as a Presidential Elite Level and a Top 1% Injector by Galderma, the makers of Dysport, Restylane and Sculptra. He has also participated in FDA trials for Dysport. Having helped thousands of patients achieve beautiful results, Dr. Patel has perfected his injection technique and can ensure that your results will look natural, not fake or frozen.

What Are The Differences Between Botox And Dysport?

Both Dysport and BOTOX address fine lines and wrinkles by blocking the nerve impulses that control muscle contraction. The resulting relaxation of muscles and decreased movement reduces the appearance of wrinkles in the targeted area.

The main differences between Dysport and BOTOX are marked by their varying formula characteristics:

  • Diffusion: Dysport tends to diffuse more than BOTOX, allowing it to spread to a broader area once it’s been injected. This diffusion can be controlled using different product concentrations.
  • Molecule size: The Dysport formula consists of smaller molecules than BOTOX, enabling it to work faster and with greater diffusion.
  • Dilution: Dysport units are calculated differently than BOTOX, which means that a higher number of units of Dysport is needed to achieve the same results. The price of Dysport accounts for this, and the final cost of the two options is usually about the same.

Is Dysport as good as BOTOX?

In the end, the choice between Dysport and BOTOX usually comes down to a simple preference. During your consultation, Dr. Patel will discuss all of your treatment options, including Xeomin, Jeuveau, and Daxiffy, and help you determine which wrinkle-relaxer is right for you. In consultation, Dr. Patel will discuss all of your options, explain the difference between each product, and help you decide which one will help you reach your aesthetic goals.

It is also important to note that while all wrinkle-relaxers work well to smooth out lines and wrinkles, it is not uncommon for patients to develop resistance to a specific neurotoxin with extended use.

Can Dysport Lift Your Eyebrows?

Dysport can be used to lift your eyebrows and achieve a more alert appearance. Often referred to as a Dysport eyebrow lift, this treatment involves strategically injecting the muscles that pull down on your eyebrow area. After the product kicks in, the muscles in your forehead that pull up on your eyebrows will take over, giving you a more pleasant, youthful, and approachable look.

An injectable eyebrow lift can also be a good way to address mild upper eyelid sagging and hooded eyes without surgery. While it won't remove excess skin, it can help open up your eyes.

For an even more awake look, consider Upneeq® eye drops. These prescription eye drops temporarily lift low-lying lids. Talk to our provider to learn if this treatment option will work for you.

What Should I Avoid Before Getting Dysport Injections?

You don't need to do much to prepare for Dysport injections. In fact, it only takes a few simple steps to get ready for your wrinkle-relaxing appointment. You may be instructed to:

  • Avoid blood thinners, including aspirin, fish oil, ibuprofen, omega-3 supplements, St. John's Wort, and vitamin E
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your treatment session
  • Fill out paperwork
  • Remove your makeup prior to your visit

If you take any supplements, be sure to mention them to Dr. Patel prior to your treatment. You will receive detailed pre-treatment instructions during your consultation with Dr. Shaun Patel. If you have any questions before your appointment, don't hesitate to call our office.

How Long Does Dysport Last?

While the results of Dysport can be long-lasting, repeat injections are necessary to maintain them. Some patients may need touch-ups every two to three months, while other patients may not need repeat injections every four to six months. The longevity of your Dysport results will depend on how many units you have injected and how fast your body metabolizes the product.

How Can I Make My Dysport Last Longer?

Dysport offers temporary results. Most patients find that it starts to wear off after four months. Your mileage may vary depending on your metabolism and other factors that are beyond your control. Touch-ups are the best way to make your look last. However, there are a few things you can try that might help you go a bit longer between maintenance appointments, including:

  • Wearing sunscreen
  • Using high-quality skincare products
  • Staying hydrated
  • Avoiding stress
  • Taking a zinc supplement

What Should I Expect After Dysport Treatment?

Dysport has little to no downtime, and many people don't notice any side effects. You may notice some soreness around the treatment area as well as slight redness and swelling. These side effects are normal and will resolve shortly after treatment. If you're experiencing pain, using a cold gel pack can help to alleviate your discomfort.

You'll need to stay upright for four to six hours following your treatment, as your Dysport will need time to settle into its placement area. During this time, it's important that you avoid rubbing or massaging the treatment areas.

You should avoid strenuous exercise immediately after treatment. You'll also want to avoid activities that require you to bend forward, such as yoga. In addition, you should also avoid having a facial until the Dysport has settled. Dr. Patel will discuss when it is safe to resume physical activity and have other facial rejuvenation treatments.

Sleeping on your back the night after your procedure is also a good idea. This can help your Dysport remain in the area where it was injected. When you're applying makeup or lotion the following day, it's important that you carefully use light pressure.

How Long Does it Take for Dysport to Work?

While some patients may start to see results within 24 hours, it usually takes two to three days after your Dysport injections.

Why Is My Forehead Shiny After Dysport?

Dysport effectively reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles. When you get these injections in your forehead, they make your skin smoother, so it reflects light more uniformly than usual. This effect can create a shinier appearance. However, many patients find that their new glow is flattering, and they see it as a benefit of getting regular Dysport treatments. Dysport shouldn't make your skin oilier — in fact, it's believed to reduce the production of sebum and have other positive effects on the quality of your skin. Talk to our experienced Coral Gables Dysport injector to learn more about what to expect.

Am I Too Young For Dysport?

Wrinkles aren't just an age thing — people can start to see lines in their 20s. These lines are typically caused by repeated facial expressions. If you want to achieve smoother skin, Dysport might be the answer. This injectable can even be administered before lines and wrinkles start to form. Early Dysport treatments are a great way to help prevent the visible signs of aging.

If you have questions about your Dysport candidacy, schedule a consultation with Dr. Shaun Patel. He will spend ample time evaluating your concerns and determining the best solutions.
