Given the popularity of Ultherapy with the media and A-list celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, our patients are often asking us, “What is Ultherapy”. So we decided to focus one of our educational blog post on this popular skin tightening procedure.
Ultherapy is a nonsurgical treatment that lifts, tightens, and tones skin using ultrasound energy. It was initially approved by the FDA in 2009 and since then over 350,000 treatments have been performed worldwide.
HOW DOES ULTHERAPY WORK?
Ultherapy works by delivering focused ultrasound energy to the skin and its supporting layers. This energy stimulates collagen production. Collagen, as we know, is very important to the skin. It provides integrity, firmness, and suppleness to the skin which we associate with a youthful appearance. Decreases in collagen production and loss of healthy collagen with age results in unwanted wrinkles and skin laxity.
So by stimulating collagen, Ultherapy reverses or atleast slows down the aging process.
WHERE CAN IT BE USED?
- Upper face (eye brows, crow’s feet, undereyes)
- Lower face (jawline, jowl)
- Vertical lip lines (smoker’s lines, lipstick lines)
CAN IT BE COMBINED WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?
Absolutely! Actually, Dr. Patel commonly treats his Botox and filler patients with Ultherapy first to tighten the skin and thicken the skin layers, giving him a better “skin envelope” to work with. He finds that it actually improves the results of his injectable treatments resulting in happier patients!
ULTHERAPY VERSUS FACELIFT
So can Ultherapy replace a traditional surgical facelift? No, it certainly cannot but what it can do is offer a great alternative for those patients who are concerned with skin laxity but who do not yet need or want surgery.
Now is a great time to consider Ultherapy. Request a complimentary consultation online today with Dr. Shaun Patel or call 786-618-5039.
