Ultherapy is a revolutionary treatment, a nonsurgical facelift, and it is the only procedure FDA-cleared for a non-invasive neck, brow and under-chin lift.

You’ve probably heard some buzz about the treatment that physicians as well as patients are terming the “nonsurgical facelift”. Ultherapy has been talked about on national television shows such as Rachael Ray, The View and The Doctors and has written about by editors from Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Shape and more. As an alternative to the traditional surgical facelift, it offers a nonsurgical facelift outcome for those patients with mild to moderate skin laxity.

And it’s now available for patients in Coral Gables and Miami at Miami Skin and Vein. Ultherapy is a non-surgical treatment that uses micro focused ultrasound to actually lift loose skin – on the brow, face, on the neck and under the chin – without any downtime. In other words, it’s a nonsurgical facelift!

Ultherapy Uses Ultrasound?

That’s right! Ultherapy is the only cosmetic procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows physician Dr. Patel of Miami Skin and Vein to actually see the layers of tissue they are targeting during this nonsurgical facelift to ensure that the energy is being delivered to where it will be most useful.

Leveraging the latest in sound based technology, ultrasound energy is used to target the deep foundation below the skin – the one typically addressed in surgical facelifts. However, in the case of Ultherapy, there is no cutting or disruption of the skin surface. That means after a 60- to 90-minute non-invasive treatment, you’ll be able to return to your everyday life without interruptions…and, without hiding behind those “post-treatment” glasses or scarves needed for weeks following a traditional facelift.

Ultherapy Naturally Creates Collagen And Elastin

Ultherapy tightens and lifts skin by using your body’s own repair process. It relies on the body’s own regenerative process to stimulate the natural creation of new collagen and elastin – yes, brand new collagen and elastin. During the procedure, focused ultrasound energy is delivered to the skin and subcutaneous tissues, heating these tissues to a temperature that is optimal for the stimulation of new collagen production. The collagen produced is natural and actually lifts and tightens the skin over time. In fact, the ultimate lifting takes place over 2-3 months as tired collagen is replaced with new, stronger collagen. And, as this collagen-building process continues, further improvements can even appear up to 6 months following the procedure!

Ultherapy – An Uplift Not Just A Facelift

Ultherapy is a nonsurgical treatment option for people with mild to moderate skin laxity that want some lifting for skin that has lost elasticity but are not ready for a surgical facelift, either mentally, financially or logistically. It’s also a great option for those who want to “stay ahead of the game” as well as those looking to maintain the results of a prior surgical facelift.

Does Ultherapy Really Replace A Surgical Facelift?

While Ultherapy treats the deep foundational layer (i.e. superficial musculoaponeurotic system or SMAS) typically addressed in a surgical facelift, it does not necessarily duplicate the results of a facelift. There are many differences between a surgical facelift and a nonsurgical facelift. For example, the results after a surgical facelift are immediate while Ultherapy results take 3 months to see. While a surgical facelift is invasive and has significant downtime associated with it, a nonsurgical facelift is noninvasive and there is no associated downtime.

So the point we’d like to make is that Ultherapy is a wonderful and exciting alternative to traditional surgical facelifts, in the right patient with the right amount of skin laxity. Dr. Patel frequently treats patients with mild or moderate skin laxity with Ultherapy as a nonsurgical facelift procedure but will refer patients with more severe skin laxity for a surgical facelift. Ultherapy is particularly appropriate for those patients not ready for surgery or for those patients who want to maintain the results of a prior surgical facelift.
