If you’re interested in rejuvenating your skin and correcting imperfections, laser treatments are an excellent option. There are several advanced technologies available for laser skin therapy, including pulsed dye and IPL. But when it comes to skin resurfacing, CO2 laser treatments are the gold standard.
What Does a CO2 Laser Do?
A carbon dioxide (CO2) laser emits tiny beams of energy. When the energy reaches the treatment area, it vaporizes a portion of the skin cells. This approach is beneficial because it activates the skin’s regenerative processes. As the skin heals, its tone, texture, and elasticity visibly improve.
A CO2 treatment can correct concerns such as:
- Uneven texture
- Deep acne scars
- Pigmentation issues
- Lines and wrinkles
- Skin laxity
How Long Does It Take to Heal After CO2 Laser Resurfacing?
The time it takes to heal after CO2 laser resurfacing can vary significantly. It depends on the type of device, the intensity of the session, and the size of the treatment area.
At Miami Skin and Vein, we use the CO2RE™ system because of its flexibility. This fractionated laser has light, medium, and deep treatment settings. Dr. Patel will adjust these settings based on your needs, your comfort level, and the amount of downtime that your schedule can accommodate.
What is the Difference Between CO2 and Fraxel Lasers?
CO2 lasers are a type of laser technology. Meanwhile, Fraxel is a brand of laser devices.
Fraxel brand lasers and the CO2RE™ system are similar in that they are fractionated. This means they work by breaking up a single laser beam into many tiny columns. This technology targets a portion of the skin while leaving the rest intact.
However, unlike the CO2RE™ system, not all Fraxel devices are ablative. Ablative lasers work by removing outer layers of skin to achieve significant results after a single session.
